Slow but steady the melting of the Antarctic ice according to new researches.

In an “aqua world”  like the one appeared in the film a film 0f 1995, will be converted our planet in the future according to two surveys published in the valid scientific magazine ” Nature”.

These studies, in which scientist from all around the world took place, had to do with the history of the melting of the ices in Antarctic: as shown in the relevant measurements, 3 to 5 million years in the past, one large part of the melting glacier had cut off and led to a rising of the sea level by 16 feet (about 4 meters), causing catalytic changes in the planet. The separation had occurred due to the appearance of thermal currents in the Antarctic Ocean, which slowly but surely won the battle with the glaciers.

As stated by Tim Neis, director of the Antarctic Research center of the Victoria University of New Zealand! “The facts that we had observed in the past, suggest that there is a possibility to reoccur a separation in the western glacier.”

The separation of the icebergs from the west side of the Antarctic is not something new, as it is something that is happening for years-however, according to the researches that appeared in “Nature”, that is nothing compared to the massive ice melting of the future. Moreover, some of the evidence which is used to export the results of the surveys, showed a “cycle”, where large parts of the Antarctic ice melt every 40,000 years.

Nevertheless, there is a note of optimism, as on the one hand, the conditions were different 40,000 years ago (there have been changes regarding the planet’s movements since then). On the other hand, this phenomenon will not take place into the near future as the researches show it will take centuries, maybe even millennia to complete. According to rough estimates , a rise in temperature of about 9 degrees  Fahrenheit should be made before we start talking about a massive melting of ice, and as other studies have shown, something like this will not happen in any case until 2100 (so it is considered that there is still time to take measures.)

However, this does not mean that the problem should be ignored, since this particular type of ice melting, which is based on the appearance of hot currents, it is extremely difficult to stop if it is launched. And according to Andrew Weaver, a leading scientist in the field of climate change from the University of Victoria, has begun, as the rates of warming in the western Antarctic is the largest in the world.

” We eventually have to pass the message that if there isn’t something done for the reduce of the greenhouse gas emissions, a rise of the sea level in the coming century by at least 5 meter would be inevitable” said Weaver, who, although does not directly involve in the researches, praised their work as very constructive in the field of the climate changes.

These two researches were the first fruits of a multinational Antarctic program research, where the 2/3 of the funding comes from the National Science Foundation of the United States.

The 10 steps to find a job.

HOW TO CONVINCE YOUR EMPLOYER THAT YOU ARE THE BEST CANDIDATE FOR THE JOB?

When a market is competitive, you should persuade your employer that you are the best candidate for the job. But how you will manage to do this? Well, to find a job is not learning nuclear physics. So instead of sending your application and just wait to call you back (something that many of us do) think better and follow one of this ten advices which will assist you to find a job quicker.

1. Write sales letter and not letter of recommendation

You should know how to “market” yourself to a possible employer and you application is the first chance to do this. Employers will spend 20-30 seconds to read your application, so you should create a good impression quickly. A letter should catch the attention of the reader with its first paragraph and give him a good reason to call you for an interview. For instance, “if you are looking for a manager with excellent administration skills, a strong network of acquaintances and the ability of increasing your profits by 20%, then please don’t hesitate to contact me.

2. Adjust your CV

If you are using the same CV for the all the employers, then it is time to change your strategy. This method alienates employers because your resume becomes impersonal, inappropriate and does not meet the requirements of the job. Adjust your resume and show that your previous working experience and your abilities match with the particular post. For instance, you are sending your resume in a retail market company; emphasize your experience in retail.

3. Follow up

Do not wait until the employer answers to your application. Act in advance by calling or sending e-mail in the company’s offices and try to have a personal communication. In this way they will give you priority if they have really decided to promote your resume and then you will have the opportunity to answer in any hesitations they may have.

Many areas are interconnected, meaning that you will have many opportunities to find out how the company, where you send your application, operates. So you will have an opinion in the issues that the company faces, which you can use for proposing solutions during the interview.

7. Dress to impress

This is not a puzzle. Just dressed up appropriate for the job you are interested in and not like you are dressed for your current job. An interview is a two-way process: the employer is trying to determine whether the candidate is suitable for the job and the candidate by his or her side to see if the job is suitable for their expectations and requirements. Prepare a list of question you would like yo make about the company and the post. This will make you look prepared and that your interest is genuine.

If you received a letter that says “thank you, but we are not interested in hiring you” make you want to give up your job search, do not despair. You will not find another job within one night period and all the experts in this area estimates that the average search job period varies from two to ten months- the more no you received the closer to the important yes you are.

So, why your colleagues quit their job? According to researches, they might move into more profitable jobs. Some candidates with skills which are in search in the job market they accept many offers, because the companies compete against each other in employing the most talented employers. Concentrating specific facts and your ability to present them effectively will contribute in your proving to your supervisor that you are a valuable employee.

Do a research in the current salaries:

Before asking a rise from your employee you should do a research to see where the average salaries are for the employees of your specialty. If you estimate your value in the job market you will not underestimate or surmount your provided services.

Prove your value

Your manager may have the best intentions for you but he might not be aware of the project you have managed. You should make sure that your efforts are not ignored, in order to succeed this you should submit a weekly report to your supervisors about the projects you are responsible for, their deadlines and the projects you have completed. Proving your increasing productivity you can assert a salary rise.

Right time.

The most suitable time to ask for a rise is after your evaluation has been complete. However you have to make a reference before the evaluation. For instance you can refer it to your manager after you have submitted an important project. In that case schedule the meeting when your employer is not pressed by deadline.

Prepare an alternative plan

If your rise is not in your employer’s budget, negotiate other benefits, like more time for vacation, a more flexible schedule or a bonus. If those requests are rejected ask your employer how you can assure a future raise and schedule a meeting to see in what stage is your request.

Like every negotiation preparation and politeness are essential

Devoting time and effort to argument in the right way and presenting your value in the company, increases your chances of getting a rise.
